Victims of Rape: Stats and Resources to Know For The Social Work Exam

It's important to keep up with the latest statistics on the populations that Social Workers serve. Victims of Rape and Sexual Assault are a large part of those we serve, if we realize it or not. Be prepared for the Social Work Exam by keeping these staggering stats in mind. Also check out the resources provided below for more information for the exam and referral sources for those you serve. Do you have any resource suggestions?

STATS OF WOMEN IN THE US:
(also keep in mind that 1 in 33 victims are men)

THE EFFECTS OF RAPE ON VICTIMS:

All of the stats above were found on the RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network) organization's website: CLICK HERE
This is a great organization that supports the anti-sexual violence movement.

Darkness to Light- Is a child sexual abuse prevention site that also provides trainings for social workers, I attended a training not long ago and it was very informative: CLICK HERE

The Rape Treatment Center site has a lot of great information on Rape and offers information on crisis intervention: CLICK HERE

There are so many more sites and resources out there but the above three are ones I have referred clients to in the past. What about you? The more research you do on a topic, the better understanding you'll have for the Social Work Exam.  Please comment with links to organizations you have found helpful:
